UCC ACQUIRES O'BRIEN & GERE'S DRY SORBENT INJECTION BUSINESS
United Conveyor Corporation (UCC) is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of O’Brien & Gere’s Dry Sorbent Injection business, effective November 4, 2009. The business unit specializes in the development and application of dry sorbent injection, delivering cost-effective solutions to reduce air pollutants from coal-fired utilities, industrial, commercial and institutional boilers.

WET-TO-DRY CONVERSION
Recent high-profile incidents surrounding ash pond failures are forcing coal power plants to re-evaluate wet ash handling practices. Over the past few decades UCC has assisted many utilities in converting from wet fly ash systems to dry systems based on market trends including increased demand for the reuse and sale of fly ash to concrete suppliers and to extend pond life for bottom ash storage of capacity-constrained ponds.
